okay, some context first. watch this video.
exposure to opportunity is privilege. granted to because of the color of their skin, who they are born from or, who they know. as soon as you are born, these determine the extent of privilege:
- skin color
- proxy
- area
it does not depend on who you are and what you do.
being born in a third world country, with a darker shade of skin color doesn’t grant you the same opportunities as someone born in a first world nation, with a much, lighter tone.
my father might have been a genius. i am not saying this because he is my father, i have seen his genius in action; he does math on the fly. not your average two plus two math. i am talking serious math. he calculates without pen and paper and he gives us the right answer. guy never missed. a strategic thinker who founded a company and 3x’d its revenue in just a few years.
but i digress.
i’d loosely define him as a genius. because this is less about intelligence and more about potential and opportunities.
in a parallel universe, my father may have grown up in a country with more opportunities for gifted humans such as himself. i wonder how life would turn out to be if he was there. for one, i wouldn’t have been born. and that wouldn’t have mattered.
but what could have been? for once, i wish there was a parallel universe i can peak into. but i cannot, i am just human.
